Good News about Fees
I previously announced an increase in session fees that would take effect in September. I am happy to report that there will be no increase through the end of this year, made possible by a surge in donations from our community.
Fees will remain at $15 per session. (Session at the Brooklyn and Gertrude Ederle Rec Center sites are free through the end of the year as we continue to launch these new sites).
If the fee presents financial hardship for you, let me know. The fee will be waived; no documentation is needed.
Lecture on Depression and Anxiety
Dr. David Roane, Chair, Department of Psychiatry at Lenox Hill Hospital/Northwell spoke to a packed audience on the topic of psychiatry for Parkinson's patients on July 28th. He noted the high prevalence of depression and/or anxiety among people living with Parkinson's and the evolution of treatments for these conditions. There were many questions from attendees about interactions of medications for psychiatric conditions versus medications for Parkinson's, and other specific treatments, which Dr. Roane answered drawing from current research and his own extensive experience treating patients.
Following the lecture, Dr. Roane shared the following two resources that address anxiety:
Thanks to Bill Easterly for leading our lecture series and Maliq Mendez of Northwell for hosting the lecture.

Bandeen Center Happenings
Our friends at the Bandeen Center (133 East 58th Street at Lexington Avenue) have a lot going on this month:
Ping Pong Table! After listening to the begging and pleading of our community of ping pong addicts, the Bandeen Center is now the proud owner of its own ping pong table. The table is available for members to play on an ad hoc basis, and I hear that some of the Bandeen staff are quite good!
